this top is knit in two lace & garter stitch rectangles & seamed at the sides & shoulders to create the boxy shape. it’s a really quick knit & perfect for warm weather !

  1. Hey~
Wow, that looks awesome. Dumb question because I am not able to imagine it right now: To make it longer I would simply reapeat the pattern as many times as I want because it is knitted from bottom to top?

  2. Beautiful! Love the color and all the different lace stitches. Looks like a fun warm weather knit! I have some Rayon Metallic in the stash just waiting to be knitted. Planning on making mine a bit longer 🙂 Thanks for the generous free pattern!

  3. Thank you so much for this pattern! I just finished my top and although I used a thicker yarn it looks great! I'm really happy with the result 🙂

  4. Erin Kate, thank you so much for showing us how to make the Boxy even better. I love the lace. I can't wait until I find the perfect yarn for me.

    1. yarn over stitch at beginning of row 5 on “D”….and slip st 1 st next….the beginning is yarn over???? thank you for help. love the pattern.

I love this pattern – exactly what I am looking for, and have it done up to the Solid Mesh Stitch. Row 3 did not turn out. Is it supposed to be on the Knit side? your pattern says "even side". The psso (over the 3 stitches) creates a "bar" – which I don't think is supposed to be on the knit side? I wonder if I'm doing it right. Am hoping that you'll let me know! Also, want to know the same answer to slipping first stitch on the lace patterns?

  6. I am having difficulties with the solid mesh stitch also. I keep losing stitch's so trying on a sampler. I have 18 stitches, then end up with 12. What am I doing wrong?

  7. The psso is not over 3 sts. you pass the slip stitch over the 2 knit stitches not the yo. Hope this helps. I am finding that doing pattern D – Row 3 you have only (1) k1 at end of row not K2. I slip the first stitch each row and not count that in my pattern. Then Row 5 I end with K2 at end of row and row 7 ends with psso over the last 2 knit stitches. Again I slip the first stitch and don't count it in my pattern. lace pattern works out correctly. is the written pattern have an error?

  8. I was wondering the same thing I believe the pattern is in multiples of 3. CO 99 sts is small-med size in DK weight. I am going to try adding 18 sts for CO of 117.That will add approximately 4" each panel with a gauge of 4.5 sts per inch. That should give me 2X plus size.Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

  9. Also after row 7 solid mesh stitch,I believe it should be followed up with 1 additional purl row to start your garter stitch band on the front or right side. The pattern does not make this clear.

  10. Val, sounds right. I'm making it out of alpaca lace weight and I'm glad that the pattern shows measurements because then I can knit a swatch and make it into a 1 or 2x.

  11. I am totally confused……and I've been knitting for years !! What size is this pattern – one size fits all or what? Love when it says it's a real easy pattern for beginners!

  12. Help?! Trying to start this today, using a light fingering; getting 3.5 stitches on a size 7 needle. Question: how many stitches do I cast on at this gauge to make a size 1x?? Help?! yarnaddicted in the Pacific Northwest

  13. I cast on 99 stitches and did the pattern for lace but why did I end up with 68 stitches? I followed the instructions. Please help what Am I doing wrong? Thank you for any help you can give me.

  14. I am having difficulty with the D Solid Mesh stitch part of pattern. It is easy enough and am sure I'm doing the sl1, k2, psso correctly, but am losing stitches (number decreases with each row) as I work through all 8 rows of Solid Mesh stitch. For sure I am knitting 2 and NOT knitting 2 together. What could I be doing wrong?

  15. how to knit this in circular ? how to shape armhole and convert whole design in circular knitting so there will be no need to do same piece twice and sew them together…. can you please help me?

  16. to be one size smaller…than coming out about a size 10….would I cast on 18 sts less? Love this pattern so much…lovely… thank you for any help!!

  17. In this pattern, you stated that we should ss at the beginning of each row (which looks great) but how does that affect the lace stitches in the row?

  18. Awesome pattern. Thank you so much for sharing your own pattern free….have just finished knitting front and back in cascade yarns, tangier….it looks awesome so far….have made it longer and going to do sleeves. Think I’ll just pick up stitches and do some garter stitch, I’ll play it by ear methinks. Thanks again, I will be doing some more, just changing yarns etc.
